Are you a speed freak? Test your courage on PortAventura World’s fastest rides

A visit to PortAventura World is literally a roller coaster of emotions. Nerves, cold sweats, heart beating a thousand miles an hour, and an overwhelming rush of adrenaline are just some of the sensations that our adventurers claim to have experienced when riding one of our attractions.

Of course, this is perfectly natural, since we have some of Europe’s fastest roller coasters and one of the five fastest in the world.

Do you want to know more about them? Then read on and we’ll tell you 😉

PortAventura World’s 5 fastest rides

Red Force, the fastest ride in PortAventura World, and in Europe

Since it was opened in 2017, Red Force, located in Ferrari Land, has the honour of holding the title of Europe’s fastest ride, and one of the five fastest in the world.

With a track length of 880 metres,
it’s a favourite amongst our thrill-seekers.

It can go from 0 to 180 km per hour in just 5 seconds!

And that’s not all. At 112 metres high, it is the third tallest ride in the world. Descending from this height creates an even greater sensation of speed!

In addition, those who have had the opportunity to climb into a Formula 1 Ferrari say that the traction of the wheels feels like you’re inside a real Cavallino Rampante.

Shambhala, a ride that’s also held its fair share of records

Before Red Force even existed, Shambhala held the title of “Europe’s tallest roller coaster”. Introduced to the park in 2012, with a maximum height of 78 metres, it is capable of reaching 134 km per hour.

In addition to speed and height, if there’s something that makes this ride a unique experience, it is its:

5 camelbacks,
which give the sensation of flying by losing contact with the seat.

it is capable of reaching 134 km per hour.

And, as if all this were not enough, the route intersects with that of Dragon Khan, making an already memorable moment even more exciting.

Furius Baco: who said that the Mediterranean pace was leisurely?

On 7 June 2007, we opened another of PortAventura World’s fastest rides: Furius Baco. Located in MediterrĂ nia, visitors can live an exciting experience as soon as they enter PortAventura Park.

Its dizzying track, situated just above ground level, crosses ditches, tunnels, and even skims the lake, making it a ride that is only suitable for the brave.

In just 3.5 seconds, it reaches 135 km per hour and makes you feel like you’re travelling even faster than that.

Without a doubt, it is one of the places where the most adrenaline is released.

It’s 850 metres at full throttle in 55 seconds. And what a 55 seconds!

Stampida: a race where you’ll always win

One day, on the outskirts of the town of Penitence, in PortAventura World, the Connery and Cranberry families arrived at PortAventura Park and proclaimed “Here we will build a roller coaster”. No one imagined that it would become a racing track. Their lives have been engaged in a constant duel ever since then, and they invite you to get into one of their wagons and join in.

It really is a frantic journey. A kilometre of ups and downs at a speed of 70 km per hour, where the dust rises in the distance while you want to shout Yee haw!

But do you know what the best part is? That even if you’re not the winner of the race, you won’t care. The emotions that you’ll feel when you reach the finish line will be so wild that it will make you want to ride again and again, regardless of the result.

Dragon Khan: considered by many to be the epitome of extreme

Since the resort opened for the first time in 1995, Dragon Khan has been one of PortAventura World’s fastest and most iconic rides, and it is also one of the most exciting.

Inspired by the legend of the proud Prince Hu, who was transformed into an enormous wandering dragon as punishment from the gods, this legendary attraction is characterised by its eight inversions that passengers travel through at a speed of 110 km per hour. These inversions include (in the order that they appear during the ride): Vertical Loop, Dive Loop, Zero-G Roll, Cobra Roll, Vertical Loop, and Interlocking Corkscrews.

Riding Dragon Khan is more than just chasing thrills. It is a chance to become acquainted with part of the history of PortAventura World, and of the globe, as prior to its opening, an attraction like this had not been seen anywhere on the entire planet.
